In Open Circuits

The four tracks included have a long and evolving history, with some of the earliest recordings dating back to early 2020. Over the course of five years, Chelidon Frame repeatedly revisited them, manipulating sounds, adding layers, stripping elements away, and returning to the original material to rethink the compositions. It was only in 2024, after connecting with the team at Webelotrax, that the moment felt right to bring these tracks to a proper conclusion and give them a definitive home.

Hamartia

Chelidon Frame’s self-three is an exploration around how to improvise with oneself with a limited set of choices available. Each recorded segment must consist of three distinct layers: an improvised guitar take with no additional edit, an improvised drum take played on top, and one series of live electronics processing one of the two instruments or adding a new line on top of the other two. The result is a combinatory process in which the three lines coexist in a new organic sound figure, where immediacy and intuition lead the game.

A sound project that explores the relationships between drone music, radio interferences, and short wave transmissions. It combines a series of SDR recordings from all over the world (number stations, Iran radios, Chinese traditional music, beacons, radio hams) and sounds gathered from fellow electronic musicians, coalescing them in a slowly evolving artificial soundscape.

"Transience" explores microvariations, processing a reduced palette of sounds with granular synthesis. Guitar samples, static noises and field recordings are treated to generate thick and enveloping atmospheres and generate sparse and minimalistic backgrounds. The recording process has been heavily influenced by Cai Guo-Qiang's works and Don DeLillo's "White Noise"

Wings in The Dark

This release coalesce a live experience from Chelidon Frame and Discontinuation of Treatment, in two long forms pieces, where dense drones, synthesized sounds, field recordings, broken beats and vocal samples merges, creating an immersive dark atmospheres to plunge into.

The main theme in this 10-minute soundscape named "Mind Static" is coding, coding errors, and less common (and therefore evocative) subjects, from esoteric hexadecimal code DEAD10CC to frequent bad approaches like "Cargo cult programming".

The album is the result of a series of improvised guitar loops: this raw material has then been reworked in the studio, enhancing all the imperfections and glitches to give a wider sense of rhythm and deepness to the sound. The flaws and all the crisps sounds thus turn into a fundamental element of the composition, surrounded by a dense magma of ambient guitars and low-filtered sounds.

The album is a travel in the modern, in the city and in its difficulties, in its non-places and in its desperations. Is a three-part narration that follows a gradually alienated and desperate point of view, in his try to search for something that can define him. This descent to hell goes along with a gradual loss of form, in which pure noise tries to become the real lead in the developing of the song.

"Your Absence Was Noted" is the result of a three hours long improvisation for guitar and electronics during which resonances, feedbacks, loops and processed noises are explored. The seven tracks that complete the album are selected and cut from this raw material with minor processing and some spatialization. Tracks 6 and 7 draw inspiration from Philip K. Dick’s "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch"

The capacity of integration between the composers during the creation process of the work, is given by the complicity inside the sound(s) used in the session.
